Welcome to the HDCPC website

We would like to encourage newcomers to the sport of clay pigeon shooting to come along and try out our DTL (Down The Line) and ABT (Automatic Ball Trap) facilities at our new clubhouse.

Experienced shooters are also welcome and many of our competitions are SCTA registered events.  There are also a few 50 target competitions for the less adventurous!

All shoots including practices are now in STEEL or non-lead shot only.

Practices are now only on Sundays from 12:00 except when there are competitions.  The club will be open for at least 2 hours and further practice will be at the discretion of whoever has opened up and depending on how many people are shooting.

Steel Cartridges

Cartridges will be available at the ground from Angus Cameron, Douglas Henderson or John MacKenzie.  It should be noted that they are from personal stock and will therefore be available in small numbers for visitors, beginners and other shooters who don't have shotgun certificates.  Regular steel shooters and local members should buy direct from suppliers such as R.MacLeod & Son (Tain), Trap & Field Supplies (Lhanbryde) or other stockist.

Next Shoot - 100ABT Selection 2008 (15th June 2008)

The next shoot is a 100ABT SCTA registered shoot.  It is NOT the North Area Championship as originally advertised.  Entries will be taken from 10:00-12:30.  There will also be a 25DTL re-entry running during the whole day.

Last Shoots

 - 100ABT Selection 2008 (4th May 2008)

Despite a poor turnout of only 11 shooters for the first ABT Selection shoot of 2008, competition was strong.  Hugh Pinkerton shot the only 25 of the day on his 3rd line and joined John Morrison & David Marello who shot 24's.  Despite his 25, Hugh was pipped by a point by David who took High Gun with a score of 93.

- 100DTL Selection 2008 (18th May 2008)

The good weather brought out 39 shooters for the 100DTL Selection shoot.  There were plenty good scores with thirty nine 25 straights including nine 25/75's.  At half way Donald Mackay was leading with only 1 point away followed by Tommy Gunn and Jim Skinner another point behind not far ahead of the rest of the field.  All 3 dropped a target and a few points in their third round which left the competition open with Stacy Gennard, Thomas Watson, Brian Ross and Ian Ross all cashing in 25/75's to try and catch up.  Good finishes by Donald, Tommy & Brian kept them in the 290's, but Stacy was the only shooter to keep all targets off the ground and with only 5 second barrels for the day took high gun.  Chris Shankland also shot very well as the only Junior, but won his class with a 98/288 using steel shot for the first time.

- 100DTL Selection 2008 (1st June 2008)

Another sunny day with only a light breeze produced more good scores at Deephaven.  The 32 shooters again managed to average a 25 each this time with ten 25/75's.  Donald Mackay and Iain Hepburn were the only two to shoot all 100 targets with Willie Lamont and Tommy Gunn just dropping one for the day and finishing on 293's.  Donald managed to hold his concentration, finishing with a 296 followed by Iain on a 294.

Douglas Henderson was the only person to clean the Double DTL side trap.
