Shoot Report
History was made with
the first 100/300 to be shot using steel in Scotland, if
not Britain. Mark Campbell gained the honour
shooting four faultless lines of 25 targets all with
first barrel hits with his new Krieghoff Trap Special. However, he was not alone in
shooting all 100 targets and after using 1 second barrel
on his 4th target of the day, Iain Hepburn went on to
shoot the remaining 96 all with the first barrel to
finish on a 100/299. Both competitors had to work
hard for it though, as the good visibility was hampered
by a stiff Easterly breeze. The numbers were
boosted to 35 competitors with the help of a squad of Orkadians and Shetlanders on their way home from the
British Open ABT, with success for Peter Davies winning
Class A, Brian Foreman coming 3rd in Class AA and Alan
Clouston coming 3rd equal in Class B. Although
nobody else finished in the 290's, there was some good
shooting with David Taylor clean at 50 and thirty three
25 straights for the day, with 13 competitors finishing
in the 280's.
The double DTL side trap also had good competition, with
John MacKenzie beating Alan Clouston after a shoot off,
then Mark Campbell, Alex Morrison, Douglas Henderson,
Alex MacDonald and Magnus Swanson on 9/10.
